ATC partner with Vaughan Engineering Services at the Ulster Hospital
ATC are pleased to be working with Vaughan Engineering Services Limited (VESL) on this phase of the refurbishment of the Ulster Hospital Complex, Vaughan’s and Blackbourne are providing M&E services to the Graham – Bam Joint Venture main contractor.
This new Phase 3B ASB will provide acute hospital services and specialist inpatient accommodation, the eight storey building will be constructed adjacent to the recently completed Generic Ward Block. Accommodation will include Emergency Department, Radiology, Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Generic and Specialist Wards and Kitchen Dining and Entrance Concourse with works due to be completed mid 2019.
The building heating requirements is met by a dedicated low pressure hot water system provided by three duel fuel boilers and CHP, cooling is provided by two air cooled Chillers to serve the AHU, FCU’s and chilled beams. The air handling units are fully controlled by the BMS with a dedicated MCC and BMS outstation for each AHU as well as separate panels for the boilerhouse, chilled water and public health plant equipment.
The occupied areas are heated from either radiant panels or in line heater batteries, where spaces require to be air conditioned these areas are served either from ceiling mounted Fan Coil Units (FCU) or Chilled Beams.
The floor areas have local outstation panels which provide control of either the radiant panel, in line heater batteries, FCU’s or Chilled Beams serving that area. The local outstations are Bacnet enabled and are interfaced to the main BMS via Bacnet network controllers located in the risers which are connected onto the client IT network including the main plant control panels.
A Trend IQvision Supervisor will be located in the main server room in this block with Estates services having access via the web server. This will provide the Hospital Estates Department access to operating parameters and status of all the primary plant, AHU’s, radiant panels, in line heater batteries, FCU’s, and Chilled Beams. The BMS Supervisor provides a graphical interface to the each item of plant and room controls can be accessed through floor layouts depicting the field devices on each floor.
ATC are also responsible for the electrical wiring associated with the BMS with the install being provided by Braid Electrical Services Ltd.
