Exciting new partnership with Dowds Group and Altnagelvin Hospital
ATC are delighted to have secured this project and continue to partner with Dowds Group who are providing M&E services to the main contractor Farran’s Healthcare.
The new Altnagelvin Hospital North Wing project involves the construction of the new 3 storey Ward Block, providing 144 bed spaces within the acute Altnagelvin Area Hospital campus site. The project includes for the construction of the new Hospital Entrance Block and reorganisation of the existing ward wing and decant of the Treatment Wing from the 11 storey Tower Block.
The project will be completed over two distinct phases to maintain operation of the surrounding hospital departments. Each of the new blocks will have dedicated ventilation plantroom areas with heating and chilled water plants also located on the roof areas.
The building heating requirements are met by Steam Plate Heat Exchangers, cooling is provided by single air cooled Chiller to serve the AHU and FCU’s. The air handling units are fully controlled by the BMS with a dedicated MCC and BMS outstation for each AHU.
The floor areas are heated from either radiant panels (capillary controlled) or from underfloor heating manifolds. Where spaces require to be air conditioned these areas are served by ceiling mounted Fan Coil Units (FCU).
A Trend 963 Supervisor located at the Hospital Estates Department will provide access to operating parameters and status of all the primary plant, AHU’s, UFH Manifold and FCU. The BMS Supervisor will provide a graphical interface to the each item of plant and where the BMS provides control within the rooms these will be accessed through floor layouts depicting the field devices in each space.
